In 1980, Pastor Adam Gault (a Scotsman then living in Erie, Pennsylvania, USA) discussed with Rev. John Kennedy his burden for the towns of Troon and Kilwinning. The Lord used this discussion to burden Rev. Kennedy's heart for these towns as well. Through an advertisement in the newspaper and visitation in a few homes, a decision was made to begin the effort to start a Baptist Churh in Troon. School premisis were rented and the first Sunday service was conducted on 17 February, 1985, with twelve adults in the service. Troon Baptist Fellowship was formed on 26 May, 1985 with six members. At a business meeting on 25 October, 1990, the constitution was approved and Troon Independent Baptist Fellowship became Troon Independent Baptst Church.

Our church began supporting missionaries in 1992. In the autumn of 1998, we leased a store-front property at 107 Portland Street for use as a church building until March, 2008 when we moved to our present location at "The Cabin".
